Come for the "Greens".
The T-boxes and greens are in good shape. The getting there is where you need to prepare for bumpy, tight and unkempt (dirt/weeds) fairways. Noise from the flight line next to the course can be distracting. The pace of play for me was decent at first but dragged on the back 9, so much so that I didn't finish the last three holes.
give it a try
greens are soft and very fast would for sure play there again
Good experience
1st time, using the app got money's worth & more thanks, will use it again
Would give more stars BUT
Greens on the course are exceptionally great, you have to be true to the putting stroke or the ball wont fall in off the lip into the cup. It's a nice challenge when putting. Although, the reason for average star rating is due to most fairways have a great deal of missing grass on the roughs or into the fairway, it's mostly dirt, it makes the short game very challenging but does help if you want a false since of a great drive off the tee, some of the trees need some serious manicuring and like most course around here the sand traps are actually hard pan traps. That's very frustrating when trying to lop the ball out onto the green. Finally, the course does have a great friendly atmosphere which does make up for the short comings. Thank you
Good value
If you want get in a cheap round and walk this a great place. Heavily traveled course but usually pretty good pace of play in the afternoon. It's a short course. Super nice staff and decent drink prices. No beer cart girls. I usually hit this place during the week when I just want to practice.
Dry fairways, good greens.
Golf
Hot deal for $12 and the greens where nice
Not up to par right now
My previous reviews have more info. Right now the course conditions are really poor, except the greens which are normal condition for Airways. I still recommend the course for fun/practice/beginners etc. Take it for what it is and you will enjoy.
Mr. A
This course his short but lined with trees, small green that are hard to hold. The fairway are rough and in poor shape.
Airways/Poor
I had played Airways for about 15 yrs ago. After our round , i know why i had not returned. The fairways n rough were hard pan , cant hit a true shot with those conditions, not to mention i scraped up a few of my new clubs on the course. Yes the price is cheap , but you get what you pay for. Pay the extra money and play a nice course. I know i will. I will not return to Airways again.
good greens
this is a very short fun course that is a good value for the money. greens are very small but smooth and good speed. this course is nice to come play when you havent been playing good and you need a feel good round. the jets are pretty awesome too!
Course OK but pro shop staff blows!
This course is short and easy to walk, even for the older players. Playing in winter can add to the already poor fairway conditions but that's why you winter rules, lol :). Greens are about average but do offer some challenges depending on where you land. Beware though there are a load of roots in and around the side of fairways so if your ball goes way left or right. Look carefully or you may be in for a surprise. Overall course quality is a little under par but for the price you pay, can't really complain. Just take the good with the bad or is the other way around? Oh and one more thing, because of the low cost to play at this course expect it to be a little crowded so keep eye for other players hitting up behind you. Now the worst for last. Proshop customer service has a problem and its at the counter. Rude and rude and disrespectful making some players feel as if they were not welcome. Not sure if person was having a bad day at work or what but if you want to make and keep a good reputation for business then fix it otherwise if owners don't give a hoot. Expect more reviews like this.
First Time
First time playing Airways. Played with my daughter who is learning. It was an enjoyable round.
Nice beginners course, but poor condition
I like the location and cost to play. I was very disappointed with the condition of the fairways and how bumpy the course is.
The greens are in good condition.
Great course for the price.
Loved it. Will do it again and recommend it. Lots of trees to test you accuracy.
Dry
the fairway are like desert like conditions and no water stops, no ball washer stations. So bring lots of water to keep from dying of thirst.
Horrible
ill start with the only good thing, the greens are green and smooth. This course is a absolute trash can. I play this course about 1 or 2 times a year thinking that some day it will get better. Never going to happen. This is a city owned course that is ran by a private company. Which I would have fIred years ago. This course has been in horrible shape for 25 years now. It's a total embarassment to the city of Fresno. Don't even think of playing here you'll be disappointed. If they can't make needed improvements in 25 years I doubt they ever will.
Great Staff!
The greens are in good shape. Fairways show the lack of water during this severe drought.
Overall fun course to play, great for practicing. I'll definitely be back!
Shouldn't be an option on GolfNow.
This coarse was the worst I have ever played in 20 yrs. The entire course, excluding the greens should be marked ground under repair. Their Superintendent should be embarassed! The club house was no better. I waited for 20 mins before I was acknowledged. The cashier had know clue how to work the register or any knowlege of their monthly memberships. He finally went to find somebody that could help. ( Dealing with 2 guys ahead of me.) But, as I said 20 minutes later. Pace of play, it wanted to make me pull my hair out! And, it would have cost me less just to walk in and pay. Which I would have never done! The reason I played is there are no refunds with GolfNow. The coarse is a joke. Riverside was the better option, and I did play that the next day!
great spot
too many people spending their day chasing beer and not thinking about the pace of play for others behind them . tees and greens in decent shape, fairways filled with weeds and rough mostly dirt and weeds.
Since we are in the middle of a four year drought I think the course is in pretty decent shape and if you don't like playing in the desert I suggest you keep the ball in the fairways.
