Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 03/2020.

Pheasant Run Resort is one of the Chicago area's most respected resorts. It offers an 18-hole golf course that is playable for a wide range of skill levels. The course is short at just over 6,300 yards from the back tees, but it still provides a fair amount of challenges. The fairways are tight and there are water hazards that come into play on a few holes. The bunkering is minimal but strategically placed to keep you on your toes. The front of the greens are invitingly wide-open and beginners will also appreciate that they are mostly flat and easy to score on. The golf course starts out with a tricky par 5 that doglegs right past the 200-yard marker and there is a water hazard that crosses the fairway. The back nine is slightly longer and also more challenging.

Rate was great and greens are in good condition. The rest of the course is in rough shape, and not winter related. Standing water in most holes with no signs they are trying to
Mitigate the problem. Also,
Front nine backs up to a series of busy roads, meaning at least one side the the fairway is bounded by chain link or netting for most of the front nine. With all the courses in the area, no reason to return.

Tight layout and difficult par 3's

They seem to do a good job of packing 18 holes into a small area. While there are plenty of challenging par 4's, I found that the par 3's were the most challenging and fun.

Nice Resort Course

Played after an excellent Sunday Brunch, the weather was nice and so was most of the course, still some leftovers from out extreme winter.
Recommend highly the Brunch and Golf together.

Great Experience

First and foremost, the staff is very friendly, polite, and accommodating. I purchased a tee time for a foursome (buddies visiting from Michigan) for the wrong day. I realized this on my way to the course. I called the course and explained the situation. They were very understanding and hosted us for the same day.

The course is well maintained considering the harsh winter we had. The greens were in good condition.

The layout is great. A variety of hole shapes. I thoroughly enjoyed my round.

The price is right

20 bucks to ride is pretty hard to beat! Golfnow came thru on a last minute deal. Course is in decent shape, one or two greens and a couple fairways in need of attention. If you play on a slow day and beat the twilight crowd, no problem getting around in about 3 hrs. Shuttle will get you from remote parking to first tee. Call proshop for pickup.

Early review

To start the year this was a great course. It may seem a little shorter on some par 4's but it can be quite challenging. Placement of your shot off the tee makes for a good round.

Peasent Run---Heed My Warning

This course is shot, completely and utterly dilapidated. They have let this course go for the last few years and this year will probably be its last until renovations are forced onto this club. Greens, fairways, and fringes are already burnt out/dead, and its frickn April! Come summer I guarantee that half of the greens will be completely brown/white. My only nod is to the sand traps, suprise!, there is sand in them. This course should accept how pathetic it is and charge $5 with cart for 18, other than that do not play this course.

Not worth the price

The course is decent - very tight. Conditions were acceptable for the first round of the year in Chicago. The course was not worth the $!

One of the better courses!

Pheasant Run is an enjoyable play with some over the water shots and a combination of long and short holes. There are several traps that challenge you to stay on the fairway. Eighteen holes with a cart and some friends to challenge you makes for a really enjoyable day!

course does not maintain adaquate staffing; no starter or cart people available. Course was kind of running it self.

Observed one person just get out of his car and tee off without checking in. I have known this course for several years. They do not use rangers. Consequently there can be many backups. Players frequently skip holes and jump around. There was no starter until 1 pm Wed. Most of the people play in the am.The staff acts very disappointed when they see that you have a Golf Now prepaid tee time

Resort? Think Muni.....

Course in great condition, greens were beautiful!
Unfortunately, this is just a muni masquerading as a resort. There are trees lining all the holes for a reason; Most of the holes are just up, and then back. Just not a lot of personality. if you like to walk, it's easily walkable.

Nice course and good variety of holes. Not one of those back and forth courses

Good staffing, well maintained. I would suggest they police or post the limited parking for golfers only.

Pheasant Run golfing experience was great!!

I found the staff to be very accommodating, friendly, and pleasant which made my golfing experience a joy. The greens and fairways where in good condition. There were four elderly ladies (around 86yrs old ) ahead of us on the course, the starter made it his job of informing us of the situation. He indicated they had agreed and it would not be no problem for us to go around them, if they were holding us up which I thought was extremely thoughtful. Too many times on other courses the group in front of you will be playing slow and will totally disregard the fact they are holding up everyone else. .

Start the Grill

I wish they told us in advanced that there was no food on the course. The round played slow and it would have been great to have a brat or dog at the turn.

Great Value

The course was fairly straight with little hazards. A few fairways get quite narrow and pose problems for those who may struggle with accuracy on the big drives. Course was very well maintained especially for being mid September. Greens were very receptive, quite fast and broke true on most reads.
