Quiet and relaxing round
I played on a Wednesday afternoon, found the course in a lovely area of town. I turned up early and was told I could head out when I liked. First nine holes has better variety than back nine but thoroughly enjoyed the course. Greens in good condition, fairways easy to hit. Will definitely be back.
Great price for a Sunday afternoon and fairly local to Chicago area.
Would definitely play there regularly when discounts are available.
I'll try it again
I was itching to play somewhere new and tried this out. Great people (one exception), and fast play (almost too fast for my taste). Rough is trimmed and easily playable. Sand was wet and condition varied by bunker. Tough greens. I had at least one 4-putt. Not sure if it was my unfamiliarity with the course, but I had a pretty hard time reading speed and break. I'm not a good putter to be fair, but usually two strokes, max 3.
Side note: I was paired up with 2 guys. I have added the one as a new golf partner (which I never do- but he was very cool), and the other... well he was practicing chips and putts at the pin while I was playing my actual chip. I've never seen anything like it. He disappeared on the 3rd hole before I could discuss "etiquette," but wow!
My highlight was a birdie on the par 5 12th. It was almost a chip in for eagle. Overall, I did really enjoy the round.
Excellent Conditions, Great Value!
This course was in great shape and very well maintained. I would not have guessed this was a municipal golf course other than the value. I paid $36 at 3PM on a Friday and played 18 holes with a cart. I also received a hot dog with fries and a soda...what a deal! I work in the city and it took about 20 minutes to get here from Ohio and Wabash. Amazing deal, great challenging course, and friendly staff. I will be back and highly recommend this course!
Worth coming back to
Excellent pace of play, 3-3/4 hours. Problem with Google Maps directions which make it hard to find if you don't know where it is.
Both long and short holes with water to make play fun.
The staff is very easy to work with and they are not unfriendly and very kind. The course has a layout that you can enjoy.
Pleasantly surprised
I've learned over the years not expect much from a municipal golf course, but this one seems to be a little better than most. It's maintained better and the pace of play, at least the day I played, was great.
Good Muni
The course was in good condition - tees, fairways and greens all maintained. Aesthetically pleasing - lots of trees, some plantings. Good variety of holes; moderate challenge overall - very playable (no very long forced carries, blind shots, very tight driving areas, or brutally long holes). Modest facilities - no practice tee (had a couple nets to hit into), clubhouse has a little snack bar and serviceable locker room. Can get a good rate on GolfNow, so this is a good value if you are in the area.
Fast play, good price, quick trip from downtown Chicago
Played at 12:22PM via golfnow hot rate. The price ($25) was great. Getting to the course from downtown Chicago was really quick.
The course was quite full but play was surprisingly fast. Finished 18 in just under 4 hours. Well maintained course and an overall good experience.
It was on the easy side and blues don't play much longer than the whites but for a parks course that is to be expected.
