Pheasant Run Resort is one of the Chicago area's most respected resorts. It offers an 18-hole golf course that is playable for a wide range of skill levels. The course is short at just over 6,300 yards from the back tees, but it still provides a fair amount of challenges. The fairways are tight and there are water hazards that come into play on a few holes. The bunkering is minimal but strategically placed to keep you on your toes. The front of the greens are invitingly wide-open and beginners will also appreciate that they are mostly flat and easy to score on. The golf course starts out with a tricky par 5 that doglegs right past the 200-yard marker and there is a water hazard that crosses the fairway. The back nine is slightly longer and also more challenging.

Not bad, but nothing to get excited about
I played this course with my son the day after Thanksgiving. It is an OK place to play in decent weather, but be warned that they have temporary greens in the fairway front of every hole location - understandable to protect the actual greens. I am not sure how long the temp greens will be in use, but I would guess until spring. I would call and ask to be sure.
Otherwise, this place is fine for a medium challenging course other times of the year.
great value for the price
the weather was a little cool that day but we had a great time.the course was in nice shape being that it was already early November. The leaves were blown off the fairways nicely and it wasn't too difficult to find balls that made it off the fairway.
modest track
Greens are in excellent shape....surprisingly so, considering it's November in Chicagoland.
Pheasant Run on a cold day in October
Having read about 5 hour rounds here with no ranger activity, my wife and I were reticent about a long day but easily completed our 18-hole two-ball in 3 hours. Tees and Greens were good. Fairways had just a few poor patches but generally good. We lost a couple of balls in the fallen leaves but that's Autumn golf! Don't expect to be as lucky as us - the course was only lightly loaded and this was because it was COLD and a little windy. Nevertheless - great value for money and no hassle golf.
Nice Day
We hadn't been to Pheasant Run in many years. When we had a chance to play at a very good rate including a cart , we took the opportunity to give it a go.
The weather was perfect for a fall day.
The greens were fast and true with a good roll-out .
Even though we played through many sprinklers the fairway grass was thin and even hardpan in areas. The course shows signs of a lot of play with browning. I would call the fairways in poor condition. But the rate we paid for a weekday was terrific.
An added feature was that we heard and watched a jet fighter doing touch & goes at the adjacent airport.
Different from others
This was my first time playing Pheasant Run and I was pleased with the course. It's not a typical golf course. The front 9 has 2 par 5's and 3 par 3's. Granted the par 3's are a bit longer but still a little unusual. The back 9 has 3 par 5's and 2 par 3's. The design of the course is nice. I think my favorite hole was the first hole which is a par 5 with a dogleg right. Water is a factor. Nice farways and the greens were in very good shape. The stoff was friendly and it was a very good experience. I would play here again.
You will enjoy yourself
Beautiful course, friendly staff. Parking near the first tee is limited, use the bag drop option, but all will soon forgotten when you see this course. Conservative play off the tee will help keep your score down, hooks and slices are punishable with trees. Holes 11 and 16 have water right in front of the green and both demand a 3 or 5 wood off the tee, a lay-up shot before the water and a wedge to the green.if your going to have a chance at par. Good Luck
nice resort course
It is a nice course at resort near a small airport.
Pheasant Run by CMD
Pheasant Run is actually where I play in a nine-hole league, but I lucked into a great deal on Golf Now.
The course was in fantastic condition. The rough is difficult to hit out of because it's a little long and lush from all the rain. The greens are usually incredibly fast, but were not so fast simply because they were aerorated this week and still not back to normal. This was explained when I booked my tee time, so I knew to expect it.
This is a tight track
The greens roll nice. You can tell they squeezed this course in on a smaller property but an overall nice resort course.
No Golf Edicate
Started our round at 10:40, looked like it might rain so wasn't really busy at first but got busy. The people playing behind us had no golf edicate at all - they were hitting into us and teeing off well before they should have. Another pair hit into our fairway drove their cart right across in front of us and instead of picking their ball up, since we were right there, they just kept playing. On top of it one didn't like his shot so he dropped another ball and hit again. It was like a free for all out there. The marshal was NOWHERE TO BE FOUND all round. Its a joke - for the money you can golf somewhere else.
Short but narrow. Fun to Play!
My third week in a row playing here. Nice course, short, but narrow, requires some accuracy and shot-making, which I like. Other than dodging the watering of the fairways, a very enjoyable time. Paired with 3 others, but play moved along without too much waiting. Had a yardage book, but too little info to really help.
Hoses and sprinklers everywhere :(
STAY AWAY, course in in bad shape. A terrible value!
Resort Course
1st time playing at this course and I must say that its an excellent course but a little challenging with all the trees. very satisfied with the course!!!!
Fore
The holes are relatively close at several spots on the course and we had to be aware of errant shots. Greens were in good condition as were traps. Fairways were also good. We booked on GolfNow and thought the golf was good value for the money.
Great value, course was in excellent condition
Very enjoyable round of golf. The Course has some great scoring holes as well and some strategic par 4s that make you think about the tee shot. I would deff. Reccomend this course and will be back to play again.
Beautiful trees
A few holes have the trees all lined up and it is quite a site
Challenging course
We elected to play Pheasant Run as a change of pace, drove 40 minutes to enjoy it. It was a bit more challenging than I remembered, however, good course to test your irons and putter. Greens were excellent and fairly fast. Course was in great shape, staff was excellent, extremely friendly.
One Of The Best Values In The Burbs.
Course conditions are great. Jamie and the staff go out of their way to make sure you have a pleasurable experience. Give Pheasant Run a try you won't be disappointed.
