Madrona Links Golf Course
About
Madrona Links Golf Course first opened in 1978, and has since become one of the most active clubs in the Puget Sound area. Located in Gig Harbor, the course is conveniently located on the peninsula with easy access to Tacoma Narrows and Highway 16. The layout has a classic links design that is player friendly enough for players of all skill levels. Small, deep bunkers frame both the greens and fairways. Madrona Links requires accuracy, but it's not overly punishing if you're slightly errant. With only gently rolling hills, the golf course is an easy walk. At just over 5,600 yards from the back tees, it's relatively short but you will still face some challenging shots. This popular course is one of the best values in the area.

last minute rainy day golf
Found great deal on Golfnow.com and decided to go play in spite of rain showers forecast. Did get rained on a bit off and on, but not bad. Paired up with a fellow Madrona mens club member who had just finished playing 18 holes. We had the course almost to ourselves and played our 18 in just under 3 hours. Although this course is relatively short, there is trouble to be found. Water on 1st, 9th and 18th can come into play and there are out of bounds on 4,5,6,7,12,1314 and 18.
Good Driver Test - Nice Greens
I've played Madrona Links many times and it's in great condition except for some burnt grass on a few tee boxes. Greens are always very good here. This course is a great test of your driver. The fairways are medium width but tree-lined so you are rewarded for long straight drives. The par 4s average 325 yards in length so it's a good place for a hard-hitting driver to play with someone who isn't as long but can make up length with accuracy on their approach shots. Clubhouse and restaurant are re-designed and offer more of a sports bar feel to it, less like a restaurant.
Some challeging holes
Recommend this course. We like it because it is close to home. The new (to us) bar/restaurant is much better than the old setup. Service was good and fast at the turn.
Great course
We totally enjoyed our round at Madrona. The course is in great shape. We found it challenging, yet playable.
Course is in great shape.
Enjoyed this round. Weather was great. A little slow at times. New restaurant with a menu that is getting changed, so many items were temporarily unavailable, but will plan to eat here next round.
Great home course
The course is in great shape- well maintained. The staff is very friendly & the newly opened bar/ restaurant (Hackers) serves up some great food & great happy hour drink prices w/ a sports bar fun atmosphere!
Course
This course was in excellent condition. The green trees , fairways and greens were beautiful.
good course
Easy one to walk. You go from one hole to another easily. Had some challenges but overall a fairly easy cigar.
Ego Booster
Madrona Links is a short, walkable track with enough challenge to be interesting to accomplished golfers (although I would have to ask one to be sure).
Course is in good shape - greens were receptive after a little overnight rain and lingering humidity. The restaurant was recently remodeled and early reviews of menu and service are favorable.
If you're a senior, check course rates before booking on GolfNow.
Not watered enough, rock hard greens, fairways
You would think they would do some watering since it is a golf course after all. Well, you couldn't even get the ball to stay on the green after landing it on the front using a 60 deg wedge. It just bounced all they way to the back.
Also, their system was done and would not honor a a golf now 18 hole rate of $29. When we asked for a nine hole rate, they said well, you reserved for 18 holes.
Totally not coming back.
Great course for good scoring
This course is an ego booster. It is fun, and usually can score well here. In good condition. The restaurant just opened, and we're hoping will be a success.
Gig harbor
The coarse was fast and excellent shape we really enjoyed our time there will go back again
Great Muni Course!
Madrona Links has always been an interesting course. Can usually complete a round in at least 4 hours except on a Sunday when a lot of families and beginners venture out! Hey! They deserve to play, too! Enjoy yourself.
Course is great for the average golfer
Madrona is renovaing thier resturant faciities that is secheduled to open up in early August. Unfortunately, theere was no food/drink cart used on the course which would have been nice since the terms were in the mid 80's.
Course conditions were excellent considering the draught we have been dealing with.
Will return again to Madrona Links GG
No straight putts
Tight, relatively short, and tough greens. We be much better when the new restaurant is opened.
Poor green conditions
Course had not been watered for days due to broken main water pump. Staff were working to repair the problem but as a consequence of no water the greens were in poor condition. I was not advised of this by staff at the time I checked in.
Great short course
Overall this is a great, albeit short course, with plenty of challenges for the average golfer. The fairways have a lot of dips, turns and are narrow, to challenge your accuracy. The greens are well kept, with challenging features; speed, ball movement. The bar/restaurant have been under construction this season, but once in should make this an overall nice place to play.
Nice course, great time.
I am a disabled golfer and have been having a hard time getting out on the links because of my mobility issues. I explained my situation and the staff was so friendly. They gave me a disabled person flag for my cart and I ended up having a blast. The course was fairly open so I didn't have to wait on any holes. I had to drop out after about 15 holes but I had the time of my summer so far. Thanks guys for a great day. Now if you had vouchers, tokens for the bridge I bet you'd would get a lot more golfers.
