Madrona Links Golf Course
About
Madrona Links Golf Course first opened in 1978, and has since become one of the most active clubs in the Puget Sound area. Located in Gig Harbor, the course is conveniently located on the peninsula with easy access to Tacoma Narrows and Highway 16. The layout has a classic links design that is player friendly enough for players of all skill levels. Small, deep bunkers frame both the greens and fairways. Madrona Links requires accuracy, but it's not overly punishing if you're slightly errant. With only gently rolling hills, the golf course is an easy walk. At just over 5,600 yards from the back tees, it's relatively short but you will still face some challenging shots. This popular course is one of the best values in the area.

A gem in Gig Harbor
Nice tight and challenging course, my play short but the madronas will make you work for it. The greens are in great shape.
Rare quiet time at Madrona
Teed off about 20 minutes after another twosome. Because of drizzly conditions we never ran into any other golfers the whole round. It was quite relaxing.
They have done a wonderful job of putting this place back together ofter the logging last year. The awesome weather just made this early outing great
As stated above, the course is in great shape. It plays very well.
Short course for iron work
Course was short so I got to use irons a lot but was worth it. Greens were beautiful and not too fast. Place looked manicured so it's well taken care of. Got stuck behind a slow group but passed them after 9 and went smooth from there.
Just not happy about the straight short Par 4's. I guess the greens tried to make up for it with their size and mostly tiered. Anyways, fun course to play and work on your irons off the tee.
Nice short course for us old farts
I thought the course was in great shape. Nice greens. We started at 7:44am and it quickly got busy after that.
No driving range
The course doesn't have a driving range. It has a 150 yard range for irons only and a putting green for practicing.
Good day at the course
This was my second time golfing at Madrona, and I had a another good experience. As it was a Monday morning, the course was almost empty and I was able to complete my round in just over 2 hours. The staff was helpful and while they had just plugged and sanded the greens, they were in decent shape. Short course, but overall a good value for the money.
Great time
A bit windy on the weather, other than that it is not for long hitters, there are surprises on every hole and for the money it was great!
not bad, not worth the drive.
Great day, average course, ..not any water, hill's in the fairway!
Fun Course
Course offers a wide range of challenges and greens are pretty good for this time of year.
good conditions for winter play, wet areas were marked, good job.p
Played course several dozen times, always a good experience.
Course is easy walk.
We are all seniors and like the course for the ability to walk it and being a good challenge. We always look for deals on Golf Now every time we play.
Great Winter Course
The course was in excellent condition considering it winter and we had heavy rains the week before along with wind.
My golfing buddy is handicap and was most pleased that we could ride to the ball. Only course we have been able to do that.
Thanks again.
Excellent experience!
Good golf, winter rules alternate greens due to frost
Hard to rate the golf here due to winter conditions. I have played here in the summer and would rate this one of the better "every man's " courses in the area. Not to long but challenging play, nice bar, good food. Due to the frost and frozen conditions, we played alternate greens... holes were not all regulation. Alternative greens barely usable, but hey golf is golf!
Downpour
Rain and wind except on the last hole. Inspite of the conditions my group had a lot of fun. No rain check needed.
Slippery when wet
First out just when the sun rose, never waited to play and the course was in great shape. The steps in and out of pro shop are very slippery with spikeless shoes, I know because I slipped and fell on my back. I'm fine but let pro shop that I wasn't going to make a big thing about it, but he should.
thurday
course was in good shape .there are a lot of trees to help your game. good course will play more
Slow and rocky
Pace of play was terrible. Backed up on tees all day. No marshaling.
Sand traps were full of rocks - actual club marring rocks. There is apparently a local rule removal of interfering rocks but you can't see the ones under the sand you're going to hit with a normal bunker shot. I know, bad on me and Jordan Speith for hitting into the sand in the first place.
Slow
Quit after 12 holes when a 5 some in front of us hit 8 tee shots. Very slow play with players hitting 4 shots to get to the 150 marker.
I asked the starter in the pro shop if they had a Ranger on the course, and he said "not in the winter"
Though I don't know why slow play is ok in the Winter.
Nice course close to home
We played on a day that it rained on and off during play. We were paired up with another player to make a threesome. The course overall was in pretty good shape. The greens must have been sanded not too long ago as the ball bounced a lot. There were a few areas of poor drainage but no real problem. The fairways were in nice shape. Our halfway stop at Hackers bar was pleasant, The cook went out of his way to prepare some cod for us without breading. It was delicious. On the back nine we met a single player who joined our threesome and finished out the day. Both of the other gentlemen were very nice. Had fun.
