Madrona Links Golf Course
About
Madrona Links Golf Course first opened in 1978, and has since become one of the most active clubs in the Puget Sound area. Located in Gig Harbor, the course is conveniently located on the peninsula with easy access to Tacoma Narrows and Highway 16. The layout has a classic links design that is player friendly enough for players of all skill levels. Small, deep bunkers frame both the greens and fairways. Madrona Links requires accuracy, but it's not overly punishing if you're slightly errant. With only gently rolling hills, the golf course is an easy walk. At just over 5,600 yards from the back tees, it's relatively short but you will still face some challenging shots. This popular course is one of the best values in the area.

Good course
My company had a tournament here 2 weeks ago and I enjoyed the short par 4's and 5's that they have here. If you can hit straight down the middle without a driver you will score great here. The greens though are in very bad shape.
Still Recovering
Nice Course but still recovering from a very dry summer & design modifications. The greens have recently been sanded. so putting on quite a few holes was challenging. With all that said, It's a fun course that will challenge most golfers.
Great little course
Just over the narrows bridge. It's a beautiful setting and a challenge without being too difficult.
Very nice staff and facilities.
Should have taken the advice not to play here!
This was a disappointment. Very short course (5200 from back tees) in horrible condition. Patchy fairways, poor grass, holes. Greens were bad already then had been aerated and sanded--no warning from course or GolfNow on that. Paired up with two others, one was a single digit handicap and he was shaking his head the whole time. I should have listened to the multiple people who told me not to play at Madrona Links.
Excellent value
First time at Madrona Links and I'll say it's definitely worth going back. Even with a 10:24 tee time, there was no one in front or behind us-front nine done and it was only 12 o'clock! Fairways were clean and the grounds around the trees were free from debris which for me, just because that's the golfer I am, means no lost balls! Teeing off from the whites, a lot of the holes offered birdie chances(stress chances). Coupled with a GolfNow hot deal, this course is a no-brainer.
Great for beginners
If you want a boost of confidence place this course! I've been golfing for just over 2yrs now, post my lowest scores at this course. Don't get me wrong, I've been putting my work in. This course suits my game. It's pretty easy has all the elements of course should have. It will challenge you, it is a links course. Hackers Bar and Grill is great, fast friendly service, great food and atmosphere. Play it and you will enjoy. LEFT ARM STRAIGHT!!!!
Rough
Greens where rough, picked up debris from storm but greens were patchy and bumpy. Pace was slow due to a tourney but the course was challenging.
Average course but improvements in evidence
I last played ML about a year ago. Since then, numerous trees have been removed, opening up the course a bit and letting much, much more light in. Improvements were evident throughout the course and Clubhouse.
I was disappointed in the Golf Now fee, when when added to the green fees at the course, saved me only $4. Almost not the time it took to book it, give em a credit card number, etc.
Hot WA summer has destroyed this course
It's been unusually hot this summer in the PNW and the heat has taken a toll on this course. Conditions were miserable, especially the putting surfaces. I'd call them greens, but they were anything but green. #5 green looked like the baked dirt of death valley. The rest of the course has not weathered any better. I recommend coming back to Madrona sometime in April of next year.
Greens are in bad shape! Patches of dirt on the surfaces of all greens, the ball bounce all over the place. Tee boxes are not level.
Green are in bad shape. Patches of dirt on all the putting surfaces. Ball bounces around when putted.
Teeing off from the blues, the tee boxes are not level.
Golf Now
Told that since I didn't book my tee time through them that I'm subject to being paired up with another twosome (which happened). Pace was slow. The fairways were good, but the greens were inconsistent due to upkeep. Person I played with wanted to lodge a complaint regarding greens, and a person I was paired with did complain about the slow group in front of us.
Sour experience
The fairways are okay but the greens have different speeds and some of them are in poor condition
The most disappointing part of it was the man at the counter, Who in three different locations made a point to show us that they do not like people that book golf through golfnow.com
He acted like we should be thankful to him for being able to play a round for the amount of money we paid
This is very insulting and disrespectful specially from an employee
For being a private club at some point they did not have any water fountains along the course and we played in 90+ degree weather
Madrona Links Review
I recently relocated back to the and this was the first time I played Madrona in over 20 years. The course was in good shape an very playable. The pace of play was slow but not unreasonbly. The food was great in the restaurant and the staff was very nice. The only downside was the pro shop staff who I found to be a bit distracted and not the friendliest individual of the day.
Fun Course
somewhat quirky course, but fun. course in good shape. practice putting beforehand to understand the speed,
remodeled restaurant outstanding!
Short but nice course.
Madrona is pretty well maintained for an inexpensive course. Not long, but you have to hit some accurate shots. Don't go if in a hurry. Lots of walkers and older golfers, so you can expect a 4.5 hour round if it's busy. But it is a fun course and good value. There are some hills, the walk isn't a stroll through the mall.
birdies bogeys and pars
really it was par, birdie then bogey. excellent conditions fun and challenging. we will return soon.
Awesome and fun course
Loved this place. Fun short course. My wife would love this place as it has many shorter par 4s. Greens and fairways were in great shape. Added bonus is that it has a few challenging and interesting holes with elevations changes and odd bends.
Lots of Fun
First time playing this course, and I will absolutely be playing there again. And again. Just a fantastic course. Getting back into golf after too long of a break and this course was a gem. Nice wide open fairways. The greens were fast, but I like the challenge myself. The staff was just awesome. Showed up a little early to check in and it was hey, you're up after these guys. Me and the boys had a blast. Cant say enough good things about this course. A+++++
